Building a Stronger and More Responsible Leadership for the Future

The recently concluded Leadership Workshop and Training Programme for the elected Abuja Grand Laux Officers was more than just a gathering of officers and dignitaries—it was a remarkable moment of learning, mentorship, spiritual growth, and leadership development. Though the programme has officially come to an end, its impact is expected to resonate far beyond the walls of the training venue, reaching districts, Commanderies, and every level of the Laux structure.

The workshop served as a timely reminder that leadership is not merely about occupying positions of authority, but about service, responsibility, accountability, and the ability to inspire positive transformation within the Order. It was designed to equip the newly elected officers with the knowledge, wisdom, and practical skills necessary for effective administration and purposeful leadership.

In her warm and inspiring welcome address, the Grand Regional President (GRP), NS. Anthonia Amaka Umeokeke, emphasized the importance of sustaining the values and lessons acquired during the workshop. She noted that when properly applied, the knowledge gained would naturally cascade down to districts and Commanderies, producing a ripple effect of excellence, discipline, and responsible leadership throughout the entire Laux.

The workshop featured several enlightening presentations delivered by experienced and respected Noble Sisters, each addressing critical aspects of leadership and administration within the Order.

Among the notable presentations were:

  • “My Role as GRP” presented by NS. Florence Ahuruonye, which provided deep insight into the responsibilities, expectations, and commitment required of a Grand Regional President. Her session highlighted the importance of visionary leadership, humility, and dedication to service.
  • “Who is a Secretary? And Her Roles” delivered by NS. Monica Nwadiubu, where participants were enlightened on the indispensable role of secretaries in ensuring effective communication, proper documentation, organization, and smooth administrative coordination within the Laux.
  • “Bookkeeping & Financial Management” by Lady Grace Ukpai, a highly practical and impactful session that stressed transparency, accountability, prudent management of resources, and the importance of accurate financial records in sustaining organizational growth and trust.
  • “Spirituality in KSJI” presented by NS. Christiana Agbaakwuru, which reminded participants that beyond administration and leadership, spirituality remains the foundation of the Order. Her presentation encouraged members to uphold faith, moral discipline, unity, and devotion in all aspects of their service.

The programme was professionally and gracefully anchored by Lady Olive Uche Nnadozie, who served as the moderator. Her coordination ensured the smooth flow of activities throughout the workshop, while her drafting of the communiqué captured the essence, resolutions, and expectations arising from the training.

One of the most remarkable aspects of the workshop was the opportunity it provided for younger and less experienced officers—often referred to as the “green horns” in leadership—to learn directly from seasoned and distinguished Noble Sisters in the Order. It became a true fountain of wisdom where experience met enthusiasm, and where mentorship inspired confidence in the next generation of leaders.

Through interactive sessions, discussions, and shared experiences, participants were encouraged to embrace servant leadership, teamwork, discipline, accountability, and effective communication as guiding principles in their various offices. The atmosphere throughout the workshop reflected unity, sisterhood, and a collective desire to move the Laux forward.

As the curtains draw on this memorable leadership training, the expectation remains high that the lessons learnt will not merely end as workshop notes or speeches, but will be translated into meaningful action at every level of leadership. The sustainability of these values and practices will undoubtedly contribute to building a more efficient, spiritually grounded, organized, and responsible leadership structure within the entire Laux.

Indeed, the Leadership Workshop for the Elected Abuja Grand Laux Officers was not just an event—it was an investment in the future of the Order, a platform for empowerment, and a call to greater service and commitment. The seeds planted during the programme are expected to yield lasting fruits for generations to come.
